Students & Materials

All Reality Spanish® and Reality English® courses are proprietary to LingoLynx, LLC. We have developed the classroom teaching methods and instructional materials for trainers in conjunction with the coordinated student learning materials, to optimize the second language learning experience for the adult professional. A set of student learning materials is required for every student taking our courses. Their design extends and enriches student learning outside of the classroom.

We have followed the philosophy of the COLA® instructional system to create the complementary sets of student resources. They present the vocabulary as 'bites' of language that the learner can see, hear and with which he or she interacts. Dialogs and stories reflect those experienced in class, so that context for the learning has already been established. Through mixing and matching the 'bites' of language, the learner builds up his or her own sets of usable language and deepens retention.

When students work with more than one resource at a time, they optimize their learning. For example, combining the Audio CDs along with the workbook that the student has printed out, or by writing directly on workbook pages while clicking the sounds or animations of the computer CD-ROM, the learner uses many modes of learning to maximize comprehension and output. Every student can use repetition and reinforcement to whatever level works for him or her personally. To enhance class cultural discussions, we have compiled a number of web resources for each module in every course. Students can access these through their CD-ROMs and also through this website.

Due to the lack of consistent access to computers for English language learners, Reality English® students receive the printed workbook and 2-set Audio CDs for their class. Again, coordinating the use of these 2 resources maximizes learning.

Our Trainers receive a comprehensive Instructional Manual when they attend the 3-day Train the Trainers workshop. This ensures consistency of lesson delivery. These resources are thorough, including everything the Trainer needs to teach the classes: lesson plans, handouts, resources to extend learning, presentations, rubrics, etc. They receive these in hardcopy and digitally on a CD-ROM. In addition, Trainers receive a DVD of our COLA® teaching techniques so they may brush up their skills directly before going into the classroom to teach. Trainers also receive a full set of student learning materials to support their teaching and student learning.
